Ingredients
For the Crostini:
- 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 ounces brie cheese, sliced into small pieces
For the Cranberry Sauce:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon orange juice (optional)
Optional Garnishes:
- Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs
- Crushed pistachios or walnuts
- Drizzle of honey or balsamic glaze
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cranberry Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, water, and orange juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens, about 8–10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
Step 2: Toast the Baguette Slices
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil. Bake for 7–9 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the slices are golden and crispy. Set aside to cool slightly.
Step 3: Assemble the Crostini
Place a piece of brie on each toasted baguette slice. Top with a spoonful of the cooled cranberry sauce. For extra flavor, garnish with fresh rosemary, crushed nuts, or a drizzle of honey.
Step 4: Warm the Crostini (Optional)
If you prefer melty brie, place the assembled crostini back in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 3–4 minutes until the cheese begins to soften.
Step 5: Serve
Arrange the crostini on a platter and serve immediately. Enjoy the combination of textures and flavors in each bite!
