For the Shrimp:

  • 1 pound (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup (100g) panko breadcrumbs (or traditional breadcrumbs)
  • Cooking spray

For the Buffalo Sauce:

  • ½ cup (120ml) hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

For Dipping:

  • Ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing

Optional Garnishes:

  • Sliced green onions
  • Crumbled blue cheese
  • Fresh parsley

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Lightly season the shrimp with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Set Up the Breading Station

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In a second dish, whisk the eggs until smooth.
  3. In a third dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.

Step 3: Bread the Shrimp

  1. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  2. Dip the shrimp into the beaten eggs, ensuring they are fully coated.
  3. Press the shrimp into the breadcrumbs, coating evenly. Set aside on a plate. Repeat with all shrimp.

Step 4: Cook the Shrimp

Air Fryer Method:

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer, ensuring they don’t overlap.
  3. Lightly spray the tops of the shrimp with cooking spray.
  4. Air fry the shrimp for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Traditional Frying Method:

  1. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.

Baking Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the breaded shrimp in a single layer and spray them lightly with cooking spray.
  3. Bake for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.

Step 5: Make the Buffalo Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the hot sauce, melted butter, honey (if using), and garlic powder. Stir until well blended and heated through.

Step 6: Toss the Shrimp in Buffalo Sauce

  1. Place the cooked shrimp in a large bowl.
  2. Pour the Buffalo sauce over the shrimp and toss gently to coat evenly.

Step 7: Serve and Garnish

  1. Transfer the Buffalo shrimp to a serving platter.
  2. Garnish with green onions, crumbled blue cheese, or fresh parsley as desired.
  3. Serve immediately with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
