Ingredients
Scale
For the Carrot Fries
- 1 pound fresh carrots, peeled and cut into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Optional Garnishes
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Cracked red pepper flakes
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and ensure even roasting.
Step 2: Prepare the Carrots
- Peel the carrots and trim the ends. Slice them into thin, uniform strips, roughly the size of traditional French fries. Consistent sizing ensures even cooking.
Step 3: Season the Carrots
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the carrot strips with olive oil until evenly coated.
- Add garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to distribute the seasonings evenly.
Step 4: Arrange on the Baking Sheet
- Spread the seasoned carrots in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Avoid overcrowding, as this can lead to steaming instead of roasting.
Step 5: Roast the Carrot Fries
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 25-30 minutes, flipping the carrots halfway through. The fries are done when they are tender on the inside and caramelized on the edges.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
- Remove the fries from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, or red pepper flakes, if desired.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
