One-Pan Sticky Beef & Noodles

  • Author: Sophia
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the Sticky Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water

For the Noodles:

  • 8 ounces egg noodles, lo mein noodles, or rice noodles
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Beef

  • Slice the beef into thin strips against the grain to ensure tenderness. Pat dry with paper towels.
  • Toss the sliced beef with cornstarch in a bowl, ensuring the beef is evenly coated. This helps create a slightly crispy exterior when cooked and thickens the sauce later.

Step 2: Sear the Beef

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef in a single layer (you may need to work in batches) and sear for 2–3 minutes on each side until browned and slightly crispy. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.

Step 3: Make the Sticky Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil if needed. Reduce the heat to medium.
  • Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Pour in the soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, chili paste (if using), and beef broth. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 4: Cook the Noodles and Vegetables

  • Add the noodles to the skillet along with the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper.
  • Toss the noodles and vegetables in the sauce, ensuring they are evenly coated. Add a splash of water if needed to help the noodles soften.
  • Cover and let cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender and the vegetables are crisp-tender.

Step 5: Combine Everything

  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss it with the noodles and vegetables until well combined.
  • Let everything cook together for another 1–2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  • Remove the skillet from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve the Sticky Beef & Noodles hot straight from the pan, paired with steamed rice or extra vegetables if desired.
