Easy Brownie Truffles

  • Author: Sophia
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 20 truffles 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownie Base:

  • 1 batch of brownies (homemade or store-bought, about 16 squares)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Coating:

  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or coconut oil (optional, for a smoother coating)

For Garnish:

  • Sprinkles, crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or crushed Oreos
  • Drizzle of white chocolate or caramel (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Brownie Base

  1. Crumble the Brownies: In a large mixing bowl, crumble the brownies into fine crumbs using your hands or a fork. Remove any overly hard edges if necessary.
  2. Add Cream Cheese: Add the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract to the bowl. Mix well using a spatula or your hands until the mixture is smooth and holds together like dough.
  3. Test the Mixture: Scoop a small amount and roll it into a ball. If it holds its shape without crumbling, the mixture is ready. If it’s too dry, add a teaspoon of milk or cream and mix again.

Step 2: Shape the Truffles

  1. Portion the Mixture: Use a small cookie scoop or a tablespoon to portion the brownie mixture into evenly sized balls.
  2. Roll into Balls: Roll each portion between your palms to form smooth, round truffles. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Chill: Refrigerate the brownie balls for at least 30 minutes to firm up before coating them in chocolate.

Step 3: Melt the Chocolate Coating

  1. Prepare the Chocolate: Place the chocolate chips or melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Add the vegetable oil or coconut oil if using.
  2. Melt in the Microwave: Heat the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat, as chocolate can burn easily.

Step 4: Coat the Truffles

  1. Dip the Truffles: Using a fork or a dipping tool, dip each brownie ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Let the excess chocolate drip off, then place the truffle back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Add Garnish: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the truffles with your desired toppings or drizzle with white chocolate for a decorative touch.

Step 5: Set and Serve

  1. Chill Again: Place the coated truffles in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened.
  2. Serve: Once set, transfer the truffles to a serving platter or package them for gifting.
