Chocolate Rice Krispie Balls

  • Author: Sophia
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 24 balls 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Rice Krispie Balls:

  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal (or any puffed rice cereal)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional Toppings:

  • Sprinkles
  • Shredded coconut
  • Crushed nuts (e.g., almonds, peanuts, or pecans)
  • Melted white chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cereal Base

  1. Measure 3 cups of Rice Krispies cereal into a large mixing bowl and set aside. This will be your base for the mixture.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate Mixture

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  2. Add the semisweet chocolate chips and stir continuously until smooth and fully melted.
  3. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt, mixing until the ingredients are well combined and the mixture is glossy.

Step 3: Combine with Cereal

  1. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Rice Krispies in the mixing bowl.
  2. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, gently stir until all the cereal is evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.

Step 4: Shape the Balls

  1. Lightly grease your hands with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Scoop out about 1–2 tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Place the ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

Step 5: Add Toppings

  1. Roll the balls in your choice of sprinkles, shredded coconut, or crushed nuts while the chocolate is still slightly warm. For a decorative finish, drizzle melted white chocolate over the top.

Step 6: Chill the Balls

  1. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until the balls are firm.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Once set, transfer the Chocolate Rice Krispie Balls to an airtight container for storage or serve them immediately.
