Chicken Lazone

  • Author: Sophia
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

For the Cream Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning (or to taste)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Optional Garnishes:

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Extra Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

  1. Flatten the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness using a meat mallet. This ensures even cooking.
  2. Mix the Seasoning: In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Season the Chicken: Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the chicken breasts.

Cook the Chicken:

  1. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat.
  2. Sear the Chicken: Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Cream Sauce:

  1. Melt the Butter: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan for added flavor.
  2. Add the Cream and Broth: Stir in the heavy cream and chicken broth, whisking to combine.
  3. Season the Sauce: Add garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, and Parmesan cheese. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.

Combine and Serve:

  1. Return the Chicken: Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to warm the chicken and allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Serve:

  1. Plate and Pair: Serve the chicken and sauce over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.
