Blooming Quesadilla Ring

  • Author: Sophia
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Quesadilla Ring:

  • 8 large flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a Mexican blend)
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken, ground beef, or sautéed vegetables
  • ½ cup salsa or taco sauce
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

For the Dipping Sauce:

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup guacamole
  • ½ cup salsa

Optional Toppings:

  • Chopped fresh cilantro
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sliced jalapeños

Instructions

1. Prepare the Filling

  1. In a large bowl, mix the shredded chicken (or your chosen protein), shredded cheese, salsa or taco sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, and cumin. Stir until well combined.

2. Assemble the Quesadillas

  1. Lay out one tortilla and spread about 2–3 tablespoons of the filling evenly over half of it. Fold the tortilla in half to create a half-moon shape. Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.

3. Create the Ring Shape

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Place a small oven-safe bowl or ramekin in the center of the baking sheet to act as a guide.
  3. Arrange the folded quesadillas in a circular pattern around the bowl, overlapping slightly to form a ring.

4. Secure the Shape and Bake

  1. Brush the tops of the quesadillas with melted butter to enhance browning and flavor.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the tortillas are golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted.

5. Prepare the Dipping Sauce

  1. While the quesadilla ring is baking, prepare the dipping sauces by spooning sour cream, guacamole, and salsa into separate sections of a serving bowl or dish.

6. Serve and Enjoy

  1. Remove the quesadilla ring from the oven and transfer it to a serving platter, keeping the center bowl in place.
  2. Garnish with cilantro, diced tomatoes, or jalapeños if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy as guests pull apart the wedges and dip them into the sauces.
